Design Capacity Scenarios

Conveyors are designed to achieve a set of specific capacities, in tonnage per hour. The key design consideration categories are listed in the table below. Each capacity set limits in power and tension on the various items of equipment to be used on the materials handling system. This would cover the complete gambit of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical loadings. The list below covers the key design considerations for a belt conveyor.

Design Capacity Volumetric CdV The design capacity used to determine the volumetric capacity of a belt conveyor.
Design Capacity Pulleys CdP The design capacity used to determine the required pulley physical dimensions (Shafts and Journal etc.)
Design Capacity Power Cdc Used to determine the required drive power to start and run a conveyor.
